Consolacion Aliman Lazo

Consolacion Aliman Lazo born on November 23, 1918 was the youngest daughter of Andres Aliman and Engracia Estante of Janiuay, Iloilo, Philippines. She is preceded in death by 6 older sisters and a brother, husband, Romulo Evangelista Lazo, eldest son, Rudy Lazo and survived by children, Ligaya Parubrub (married to Jeremias), Romulo Lazo Jr. (married to Elsie), Lualhati Munsayac (married to Eduardo), Luniningning Lazo, Liwayway Lazo, Guadalupe Llanera (married to Nestor), Rex Lazo (married to Anabella), Liwanag Goco (married to Rodolfo Jr.), 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Upon graduating from Philippine Normal School, she taught Music at Iloilo Central School where she met her late husband of 58 years, Romulo Sr.. At a very young age, she was the soloist at her local church. With a distinct ear for music, she played many musical instruments including the piano, accordion, guitar, ukulele and harmonica. At various formal occasions where she was invited, she enjoyed leading the national anthem and other group singing events.

After migrating to the United States in 1981, Consolacion fulfilled community services by being a long term president of the Filipino Seniors Club called Halaga (Hawthorne-Lawndale-Gardena). She was an auxiliary member of the Philippine Veterans Legion and participated in various activities of the legion. A pious Catholic, she was treasurer of the Legion of Mary at St. Catherine Laboure Church until immobility arose.

Consolacion left a legacy of love and compassion to all she knew. A warm and kind-hearted person, she always found time to help other people. She was "Nanay" or mother to all who needed one. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she dotingly raised several grandchildren as her very own, lovingly repeating child-rearing after devotedly raising her own 9 children.
