Clifford D. Stiner, 68, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024 in Arcadia after a short illness. Cliff was born in North Tonawanda, New York on December 9, 1955 to Theodore Stiner and JoAnn Henneman. He later lived in Chicago and Florida before moving to California. There he met his life partner, David Scarminach, where they began their 32 year journey together.
As a senior in high school, Cliff joined the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, proudly playing the trumpet. His love and dedication to the Cavaliers grew as Cliff showed his talents over the years as a musician and later became involved in the artistic design of the competitive group. He is fondly remembered as “Cliffy” by his Cavalier brothers and was a part of some of the Drum Corps International competitions that the Cavaliers won over the years. The bonds he made with the Cavalier brothers have lasted for more than 50 years. Cliff most recently attended a Cavaliers Reunion in Chicago this summer.
Cliff had a long, productive career as a floral designer. He was lucky enough to travel extensively over an 8-year period to India, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, France and Italy to name some of his travels abroad. He loved traveling to faraway places where he picked up numerous gifts from his clients and bought many souvenirs that he surrounded himself with. When he moved to California, he helped his brother to move with him which was a particularly gratifying time for him. Cliff enthusiastically worked for many popular movie stars and executed some large scale events, including the National Association of Realtors convention and the Playboy Midsummer Night’s Dream, working exclusively with Hugh Hefner. Designing Christmas items was a delight to him. His designs of ornaments, candles and more were shown at Target, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and assorted smaller boutiques. Family members excitedly awaited the gift of a Christmas ornament he had designed each year. His creativity was second to none.
Cliff will be remembered for his upbeat outlook on life, his beaming smile and caring nature. He was known for adding a lighthearted joke to make you smile and his endless generosity. He often donated his artistic talents to charitable organizations. His love of color and design was evident in all aspects of his life, even his most recent car was electric lime green!
Cliff is survived by his life partner, David, their daughters Noelle Hoye and Michelle (Mark) Rimler, along with grandchildren Cassi Hoye, Jonah (Cheyenne) Hoye, Hanna Hoye, Kayla (Paxton) Endres, and Jack Ravetti, including great-grandson Hudson Endres. He is remembered by numerous other family members and friends. Cliff was preceded in death by his father Theodore, his mother JoAnn, sister Katherine and brother Ted.
