Claudia Garcia Contreras

After a long battle with brain cancer, Claudia Garcia Contreras died on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at home in La Mirada, CA at the age of 43. She leaves behind her daughter, Alyssa Samantha Luque aged 15; her son, Nathan Francisco Luque aged 19; and many loved ones.

Claudia was born on March 16, 1977 in Torrance, CA, to father Francisco Garcia and mother Martha Contreras, who are saddened to say goodbye. She grew up in a large, loving family; the third child of three sisters and one brother. In medical school, she excelled with all A's in every class and graduated with a 4.0 as an honor student. She loved learning and helping others which showed through her work at Kaiser Permanente in Downey. She woke up every morning enthusiastic to go to work with a huge smile on her face.

She was a driven professional with a love of rom-coms and Starbucks. When diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018, she remained dedicated in her work and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.

Claudia is survived by her grandmother Antonia De La Torre, Parents; Francisco & Martha Garcia, Siblings; Sandra, Ivette Marisol, Martha and Francisco Fabian; among numerous nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. She is greeted in heaven by her grandparents, uncles, aunts, and many other family members and friends.

Claudia didn't like to ponder about her death but would rather celebrate life. She requested to be celebrated and remembered on a positive note. She will be resting at Forest Lawn in Long Beach, CA.

The family would like to THANK everyone for loving and providing wonderful memories that Claudia cherished until the very end. THANK You to the staff of Kaiser Permanente for their loving, attentive home treatment.
