Hampstead. NH: Clarence A. "Bib" Nadeau, 90, a former longtime resident of Hampstead, died January 7, 2016 at Prescott House in North Andover.
Born in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Clarence and Lydia (Phaneuf) Nadeau, he attended the former Haverhill Trade School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, stationed aboard the USS Vincennes and was a recipient of the W.W.II Victory Medal, The American Theater Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with 7 Bronze Stars, and The Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 Bronze Stars.
A Master Plumber, he was the President of C.A.Nadeau and Sons, a well-known plumbing and heating company in Hampstead. He also was the co-owner and operator of Sanborn Shore Acres for many years.
A resident of Hampstead from 1948 until 1985, he was a founding member of Saint Anne's Parish and was active in town affairs, donating the flagpole for the Town Office. He retired to Barefoot Bay, Florida where he lived for many years before returning to the Merrimack Valley area several years ago.
He was a charter member of the Hampstead Lions Club and a life member of Carl Davis Post of the American Legion and a longtime member of the VFW of Derry. He enjoyed playing cards and also stock car racing as a part owner of the Shenley Race Team.
Predeceased by his wife Eleanor L. (Marcotte) Nadeau, he is survived by a son Bruce Nadeau of Goshen, NH, daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon A. Nadeau of Mesa Arizona, Dena M and Douglas Drum of Springfield, Ohio, Karen and Robert Rodgers of Mesa, AZ and Nancy and Michael LaFleur of East Hampstead, NH, also ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Route 121 A, Plaistow. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the Spring in West Hampstead Cemetery.
