Clarence Fay Konkel, 88, born on May 19, 1924, in Cullison, Kansas, passed away December 3, 2012. He resided in Glendale, California at the time of his passing. His is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Dale and Gertrude Ellen Konkel, his first wife Harriette Mae (Sandy), and his son Mark Eugene Konkel. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Jane Konkel, son Daniel Scott Konkel (Kathryn), daughter Linda Susan Washburn (William), and daughter Lisa Marie Young. Other family member's morning their losses are the grandsons Daniel Arthur Washburn (Michelle), Benjamin James Young (Emily), Abraham Lewis Young (Alisha), Kyle McKenzie Konkel, Zachary Lewis Konkel, and newborn great-granddaughter Samantha Noelle Washburn. He is remembered with love and affection for his generous heart by his extended family and friends.
C.F. (Fay) moved to California after World War II to attend Glendale Community College on the GI bill. He spent his working career in the movie and television industry, first as a sound man, then set construction, special effects, miniatures, and pyrotechnics. Fay enjoyed working for a variety of studios as a member of Local 44 IATSE including KTLA, Paramount, Warner Brothers and Universal Studios. Several of his favorite productions include Air Wolf, Tora Tora Tora, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Doctor Doolittle.
C.F. (Fay) was a Master Mason, member of the Scotish Rite, and active member of the Almalika Shrine. His love of the brothers and his concern for children guided his actions and attitudes, with a willing and helping hand to anyone in need.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 at 1:00pm at the Glendale Masonic Lodge, 244 N. Maryland, CA 91206 with graveside service following at 3:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA.
