Clara McBride was called home on Monday, September 11, 2017. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, birds were singing and the squirrels were chasing each other, darting about. It was around 10:30 a.m., when she fell asleep in death.
She was born January 6th, 1932, in Blair, Mississippi, to Clifton Young and Lena Richardson. As a young woman, she traveled about and settled in California in 1965. She began her career working for the Los Angeles and Long Beach Unified School Districts. After a long and rewarding career, she retired, and enjoyed her golden years as a 20 year resident of the Gold Star Manor in Long Beach, California. Clara was a member of the Peoples Missionary Baptist Church in Long Beach and part of the flock shepherded by Pastor Ulysses Cummings. Her favorite song was Walk Around Heaven and the favorite scripture was the 23 Psalms.
Clara was the devoted matriarch to her family. She is the proud mother of her seven children: Willie Charles Davis (Deceased), Mary Jo Davis, Fred McBride and Karen (wife & children, Rickey Jackson, Tanisha Finkton, Crystal Hadley, Danielle Lewis), Ronnie McBride, Clemetene Moore, Deborah McBride, and Evelyn Harvey(Rod and Deborah). Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
