Cielito “Lito” A. Borge

December 16, 1945 - February 7, 2024

Cielito “Lito” A. Borge, 78, passed away in Banning, CA on February 7, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Lito was born in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He attended local schools and graduated from Narvacan National Central High School in 1962.  He went on to pursue higher education at Far Eastern University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce in 1967. He took additional education units after college which earned him enough credits to qualify to teach at his high school Alma mater NNCHS for a short period. Prior to migrating to the United States, he worked as a revenue agent in the Collections and special assets department at the central branch of the Philippine Veterans Bank. He joined his younger brother Ness in Hawaii in 1972 and found a job as an assistant to the bar manager for a few months before moving to Los Angeles, CA.

Lito worked for the United States Postal Service for 26 years. He was employed as an accounting clerk at various businesses before joining the postal service. He was one of the founders of the Filipino Association of Los Angeles Post Office  (FALAPO) and served as a President for a number of years. He enjoyed traveling around the world during his younger years and whenever he was able in recent years. Lito had a passion for basketball particularly cheering his favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers. He also loved chess, tennis and bowling and has collected some championship trophies through the years. His favorite activity was going to the casinos and enjoyed the various buffets. He also enjoyed playing the piano and singing Karaoke. After the death of his first wife in 2007, he found solace in spiritual fellowship. He joined the American Fellowship Church and completed a Well-being course followed by Ministers Training Course ending in ordination on August 7, 2010. He was the patriach of the Borge clan and loved hosting reunions and parties in his previous home in Walnut. He will leave a huge void and will be so missed at many family gatherings. He was the best organizer of special events. He single-handedly organized big family reunions and other huge gatherings. He was also a major sponsor of the Lungog church through the years.

Lito is survived by his wife, Mabel Corpuz Borge, his siblings Nessy (Norma) Borge, Amante (Lilia) Borge, Rosabelle (Alexander) Calangan, Norman Borge, numerous nephews and nieces. Lito was preceded in death by his parents Nemesio, Francisca and step mom Veronica, his first wife, Nydia, and brothers Ofrisio, Fiorello and Vic.
