黃闕珠 Chuzh Huang

Chuzh Huang passed away on January 3, 2024 at the age of 89 in West Covina, California.  She was born on March 31, 1934 in Taipei, Taiwan and emigrated to the United States over 30 years ago.  She was known to many as āmà (阿嬤) or grandma, but was so much more to so many others such as a loving sister, mother and friend.  She dedicated her life to caring for others, as well as being a devout follower of her temple. She was a remarkable woman who could light up any room she walked into and brought so much joy into so many people’s lives.

黃闕珠女士於 2024 年 1 月 3 日，在美國加州 西科文納市，安詳辭世，享年 89 歲。她於 1934 年 3 月 31 日出生於台灣台北，30 多年前移民至美國。她是一位慈愛的姐妹、母親、阿嬤與阿祖，更是大家一直以來的好朋友。虔誠信奉一貫道的她致力於照顧著我們大家。她爽朗，活潑，大方的性格總是為周圍的我們帶來無盡的歡樂與溫暖。  

From an early age, it was clear she possessed a nurturing and compassionate nature.  Always putting others before herself, she tirelessly took care of her siblings and parents.  Her early life wasn’t without adversity, but her resilience and strength led her to look at life with nothing but positivity and love.  She also always lived her life with an unapologetic exuberance and fearlessness that will always be admired.

黃闕珠女士自幼即展現出她富有慈愛和堅強的生活態度。總是先設身處地地為他人著想，不辭辛勞地照顧父母與兄弟姐妹。她的早年生活並非沒有逆境。最喜歡聽著她分享過去生活的點滴 - 孩提時期一手轉賣四色牌，一邊照顧著家人的故事; 成長時期面對戰爭與生活上的挑戰; 台港開放初期跑單幫的冒險。即便如此，她仍樂觀積極地擁抱與迎戰生活上的每一個轉折，這富有熱情和無畏的生活態度讓我們敬佩與懷念。  

She accomplished so much in her life, including traveling the world and building a home and community in two countries.  She felt that exploring new places and experiencing different cultures enriched her life.  Undoubtedly, one of her proudest accomplishments was raising six children, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  She cherished every moment she spent with each of them.

她一生成就與閱歷剖豐，周遊世界，遍跡數國，並在在台灣與美國建立了家園。她認為探索新地方並體驗不同文化豐富了她的生活。毫無疑問地，她最引以為傲的成就之一即撫養照顧了6個子女、11個孫子女和3個曾孫。她珍惜與大家相處的每一個時刻。  

She had so much love for everyone and everything and believed that all living things deserved to be treated with kindness and care.  She could be disarmingly charming and loved talking to people, forming lasting friendships and strong communities in all the places she lived. She brought an almost magical wonder into the world with her stories, values, and wisdom. Her memory will forever be held dear by her surviving family and friends who will continue to carry on her love in their hearts.

她對周遭的人事物總是充滿著愛，她相信所有萬物都應該被溫暖地對待。她有著迷人與活潑的魅力，健談的她喜歡與我們談天說地，分享家常點滴，在她所有生活過的地方建立了緊密的友誼。她用她豐富的故事與生活上的智慧溫暖了我們。她的過往將永遠地被她的家人與朋友們所珍愛; 家人與朋友們也將銘記珍藏她的愛與關懷。  

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Chuzh Huang, but we take comfort in knowing that she lived a life filled with love and kindness.  Her loving nature touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.

帶著沉重的心情，我們向黃闕珠女士道別。她充滿著愛和善良的一生讓所有有幸認識她的我們永遠懷念她。願她安息在永恆的靜甯中。 

 
A funeral service in honor of Chuzh's life will be held on February 3, 2024, at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Church of our Heritage in Walnut Islands, California. The service will begin at 2:30 pm. The address for the church is 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, California 91724
