Christopher Lamone Roberts, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on February 23, 1958, in La Habra, California, Christopher was the cherished son of Laura G. Freeman and Kenneth Aaron Roberts. He spent his childhood in Compton and Inglewood, where he formed lifelong memories playing baseball and basketball—a passion for sports that continued throughout his life.

From an early age, Christopher’s life was deeply shaped by his Christian faith. He grew up attending Calvary Baptist Church in Los Angeles under the leadership of Pastor Manuel Scott, where he learned the values of service, humility, and steadfast belief. Those lessons stayed with him throughout his life and were reflected in the way he loved, supported, and cared for others.

Christopher attended Morningside High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1976. Shortly after, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in 1976, demonstrating the dedication and discipline that would define so much of his life. In 1978, he began his career as a meat cutter apprentice at Alpha Beta Supermarket, which became Ralphs Grocery Company. Over nearly 30 years, Christopher worked his way up and ultimately retired as a Meat Manager—a role marked by leadership, pride, and commitment.

In 1978, Christopher met the love of his life, Karen Lynette Reese. The two married in 1980 and built a beautiful family together. They welcomed their son, Brian Paul, in 1982, and their daughter, Shavon Renée, 1986. Christopher took immense joy in supporting his children’s athletic pursuits and, when the time came, carried that same love and enthusiasm into the lives of his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan—present, proud, and always cheering from the sidelines.

Basketball remained a lifelong passion. In 1984, Christopher began officiating high school basketball, a role he held into the early 2000s. He served as a board member of the Foothill Citrus Basketball Officials Association from 2008 - 2011. When his time on the court ended, he remained involved as a mentor and instructor for other officials. He loved the game deeply, and refereeing allowed him to stay close to the sport he cherished.

Beyond his devotion to family and basketball, Christopher lived a life filled with fun, adventure, and loyalty. What began as a simple hobby—driving around town looking at homes—grew into a true interest and, eventually, a new career. Around 2007, he pursued real estate professionally, joining Forefront Real Estate and Mortgage, where he enjoyed helping others find places to call home. He and Karen also loved cruising, attending concerts, and spending time together watching his favorite sports teams—the Raiders, Lakers, and Dodgers. Whether traveling the seas, exploring new neighborhoods, or watching a big game at home, Christopher was happiest in the company of those he loved.

Christopher is survived by his devoted wife, Karen; his brothers Larry and Troye; his children Brian and Shavon; and his six adored grandchildren: London, Elijah, Naomi, Isabelle, Roman, and Eile. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.

Christopher’s life was one of love, loyalty, and strength. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the values he instilled, and the countless moments he made brighter simply by being there.

May he rest in peace.
