Christopher Forno

Christopher Forno, 64, born on January 7, 1951, in Dunedin, New Zealand, passed away January 26, 2015. After moving to the U.S. in 1969 to attend Palmer Chiropractic College he went on to treat thousands of patients at his chiropractic practice in Covina, California for 40 years. In 1976 he married Keren Martha Anne Kolenda in Winter Haven, Florida. The two met at her family's - The Singing Kolenda Family - gospel concert.

Dr. Forno was a champion athlete, breaking dozens of track & field and weightlifting records in his native New Zealand, including records for the snatch, clean & jerk, bench press, squat, dead-lift, 100-meter run, hurdles and triple jump. Throughout his life he continued to strive for athletic excellence, recently winning the National AAU Masters Olympic Weightlifting competition in 2014 and qualifying for the 2015 World Masters Championships.

Dr. Forno utilized his unparalleled knowledge of sports and medicine to serve the community with passion as a doctor, coach, mentor and friend at both Sonrise and Western Christian Schools until the time of his death. He influenced hundreds of student athletes by serving as a coach and trainer for the football, cross country and track & field teams.

As an active member of his church, Covina Assembly of God, Dr. Forno was a dedicated Christian who touched countless people with his selfless, service-filled life as a Royal Ranger troop leader, usher and counselor.

Dr. Forno leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years Keren; his sons Christopher and Shawn; his daughter Cherise and his first grandchild due March 26, 2015. He also leaves his brother Anthony in Melbourne, Australia, and sister Pamela in Surprise, AZ, as well as four nieces and five nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial in Covina, CA with Rev. Jim Ashmore presiding.
