It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ching-Hwa (May) Feng, who departed this life on August 26, 2025 at the age of 92.
Ching-Hwa was born on December 1, 1932 in Shanghai, China. She was fifth in a family of six children. Throughout her life, she was known for being a kind and happy person. She was infinitely adaptable and always prevailed regardless of what life threw her way. She earned a degree in Economics from National Taiwan University. Her life’s journey brought her to the United States, where she emigrated in 1956. She began advanced studies in economics and soon met her first husband, Ge Shou Ping. When Ching-Hwa was widowed with a small child, she became a COBOL programmer and worked in the banking industry. She remarried in 1975 to David Chuan Chung Feng and moved to Colorado to raise her family. Her early programming experience led her to work at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Ching-Hwa will be remembered for being a caring mother. She made fantastic braised duck and beer-roasted duck. She loved to sing. She had many life-long friends. Ching-Hwa leaves behind many cherished memories with friends and family.
She is survived by four children, seven grandchildren, and (so far) one great-grandchild.
Ching-Hwa will be laid to rest next to her husband, David Chuan Chung Feng, at Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks in Cypress, California.
She lived her life according to the Chinese proverb:
“Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” – Lao Tzu
