Cheuk Ying Chen Wong passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was defined by selflessness, faithfulness, and unconditional love.
Born in Panyu, China, Cheuk Ying later moved to Hong Kong, where she met her beloved husband, Jin Pei Chen. Together they built a life centered on family, and after sixteen years of marriage and raising five daughters, they made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States to provide a better future for their children. In a new country, Cheuk Ying worked tirelessly each day, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to caring for her family.
Cheuk Ying was the proud mother of five daughters: Emily, Brenda, Sherry, Wendy, and Kelly. And a loving grandmother to Emma, Alex, and Eden. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Tony. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted her life to nurturing, supporting, and loving them with quiet strength and unwavering devotion.
A woman of deep kindness and generosity, Cheuk Ying always placed others before herself. She found joy in caring for her daughters and grandchildren, cooking nourishing meals, and creating a warm and welcoming home. She was especially known for her homemade spaghetti, Chinese New Year dessert nian gao, and comforting soups. Her phone was filled with photos of loved ones rather than herself, a reflection of her selfless and others-centered heart.
Cheuk Ying formed deep and lasting friendships throughout her life. Her gentle spirit, generosity, and genuine care left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Friends showed their love by traveling from afar and bringing food and support year after year, a testament to the impact she had on their lives.
Even during illness, Cheuk Ying remained remarkably strong. She carried herself with grace, optimism, and a warm smile, continuing to care for her family and grandchildren as long as she was able. In her final moments, she was held by her daughters, surrounded by love and peace.
Cheuk Ying loved traveling and exploring, especially visiting Hong Kong to reconnect with family. She embraced life with joy, living each day fully and appreciating even the simplest moments. Her contagious smile, gentle presence, and joyful spirit brought comfort and happiness to those around her.
Though deeply missed, Cheuk Ying’s love lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
She is now at peace, resting in the presence of God. Her family finds comfort in knowing they will one day be reunited again.
