Chester James Semel

Chester James Semel, 95, born in November 1925, in New York, NY passed away November 20, 2020. He resided in Beverly Hills, CA at the time of his passing. Dr. Semel was born to Louis and Sarah Semel in New York City. He graduated from Columbia Medical School and faithfully served the United States during World War II and then in the U.S. Public Health Service. Dr. Semel was a surgeon for over 50 years, often taking on difficult cases to help those in need. He also served as Head Physician on the University of Southern California Football Team. Dr. Semel married Colleen Causey in 1950. He was preceded in death by his beloved Colleen in 1995. Chester also was preceded in death by his dearest younger brother, Dr. George Semel in 2013. Chester and Colleen were blessed with four children: Jeff (Shirley) Semel, Julie Lively, Dr. Jane Semel, and Scott (Carolyn) Semel. Chester was survived by four beautiful granddaughters Jessica Lively, Briana (Craig) Blessing, Rebecca Semel, Alison Semel, and two wonderful great-grandsons Asher and Trace Blessing, along with niece Alexis McBrayer, her children, and nephew Daniel Semel. Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California on Friday, December 18 at 2pm.
