Cheryl Reno

July 8, 1941 — October 30, 2025

Cheryl Benshoof Reno passed away on October 30, 2025 at the age of 84. Born Cheryl Ann Benshoof on July 8, 1941 in Santa Monica, CA. After graduating Woodlake Union High School in 1959, she attended The University of California Berkley for two years and then moved to Southern California and remained there for the duration of her life. She is survived by her Stepmom Arlene Benshoof of Batesville, AR; daughters Chris, husband Jimmy of Forest, VA; Shannon of San Clemente, CA; and Kelly, husband Greg of Anaheim, CA; along with six grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Blake, Mitchell, Ruby, and Ivy. She is preceded in death by her husband Steven D. Reno, son-in-law Roc Wyatt and her parents Don Benshoof and Eunice Mullen.

Cheryl had many nicknames during her life and many knew her best as Tani, a name of true endearment given to her by her Dad as part of a song he would sign to her as a child.

Steve and Tani spent fifty-two years in the same home in Anaheim, CA. They started their life together with her managing the home and two young girls. After the birth of their third daughter, Tani returned to school and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Business at California State University Long Beach.

Making the transition back to the workforce, Cheryl spent eighteen years as a proud employee of the City of Cerritos as an Accountant.

Her favorite nickname was Uma given to her by her first grandchild. She was a proud Uma to all of her grandchildren and rarely missed a performance, a game or a school event.

Cheryl loved the performing arts, knitting blankets for the family and always a good James Mitchner book. Her favorite place to be was watching the Angels - whether it was at home or the ball park with her scorecard and a No.2 pencil.
