Cheryl Ann Clarke passed away on April 28, 2024, at age 67 in her home, with her son and husband nearby. God saw her through the struggles at the end of her life, and He brought her home painlessly to join Him in Heaven.
Cheryl cared deeply for her family. She loved being a wife, a mother, but she especially cherished her role as "grandma", and all of her grandchildren love her dearly. Cheryl created homemade care packages, including clothes, shoes, and food, and distributed them to the homeless and those in need. She also cared for stray cats and kittens over the years who would have otherwise gone without food, water, and medical attention. Cheryl homed dozens of cats and kittens in her lifetime.
For many years, Cheryl celebrated friendship with a group of women every month when they smiled and laughed while playing bunco and LCR. She maintained lifelong friendships with Betsey W., Cyndi E., and Sheryl A., and found a friendship later in life with Betty F.
Cheryl loved to find that "steal of a deal" at thrift stores or yard sales, and she owned her own plus-size women's thrift store in downtown Upland, CA. She was an avid fan of Disneyland, and visited the Magic Kingdom frequently. Cheryl followed the lives of celebrities, including Elvis, Rod Stewart, Marie Osmond, and Anna Nicole Smith; she met many of them through book signing events in later years. She decorated her home with thoughtfulness and care, featuring different themed rooms.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 48 years, Arthur Clarke; her two sons: Adam and Marcus Clarke; and her six grandchildren: Connor, Kaia, Bradley, Thomas, Evelyn, and Carina Clarke.
