Charlie James Albert

Charlie James Albert was born on April 27, 1931, in Lake Charles Louisiana, son of Lula May Albert and Andrew Albert. Charlie had 10 siblings, 8 boys and 2 girls, and is survived by 2 of those siblings, Roberta Tate of Zachary, Louisiana, and George Albert of Albany, Georgia.

Charlie went to school in Zachary, Louisiana, and in 1955 met Dorthy Aline Austin, who soon became Dorothy Albert. They were married for over 40 years and lived in Louisiana until they moved to Los Angeles, California in 1967. Charlie was employed at the Downtown Hilton Hotel and at the Alpha Beta grocery store. He was an accomplished painter for over 40 years, adding color to many buildings.

Charlie is survived by 2 children, Donnie Ray Albert and Lonnie Ray Albert, 4 grandchildren, Myesha Albert Gilley, Jonathan Lonnie Albert, Destiny Estrella Albert, and Tatiana Laurie Albert. Great Grandchildren, Kayla Gilley and Samuel Gilley Junior. Daughters in Law, Laura Albert and Linda Albert.

Charlie is known for his love of music and will truly be missed by his family and friends. We love you and will always remember you as "Guitar Slim".
