Plaistow, NH: Charles L. Willard, 77, of Plaistow, passed away on December 15, 2015 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, son of the late Shirley "Jess" and Myrtle (Pickard) Willard, he attended Haverhill Public Schools and the Haverhill Trade School. Mr. Willard was employed in the grocery industry for forty years, first at Glen's Market, then at First National, and IGA which later became Harvest Market. He was most recently employed as a custodian for the Pollard School in Plaistow for twelve years.
Mr. Willard served as a Cub Master and Explorer Leader for many years and led the first Cub Pack for boys with disabilities. He also served as an usher and on the Property Committee at the First Baptist Church in Plaistow and was an avid NASCAR fan. A devoted and wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa, Mr. Willard helped his wife raise twenty-one foster children over the years.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Marilyn (Colby) Willard, his sons and daughters-in-law, Mark S. and Lori Jillson of Plaistow, Scott A. and Debra Jillson of Alton, and Randi C. and Melissa Willard of Columbus, OH, six grandchildren, Travis K. Jillson, Danielle C. Jillson, Nathan DeProfio, Rachel E. Willard, Gabrielle Willard, and Annalouise Jillson, three brothers, James Willard of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Dennis Willard of Lawrence, MA, and Robert Willard of Bell, CA, three sisters, Elizabeth Tellier of Atkinson, Judith Borges of Torrance, CA, and Arlene Williams of Anaheim, CA, six great grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Willard.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Willard's Funeral Service on Sunday, December 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 122 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. A reception will follow in Colcord Hall. A private burial will take place at a later date. The family requests no flowers.
