Haverhill, MA: Charles E. "Charlie" Rowe, 70, of Haverhill, MA died on December 6, 2014 at his home.
Born in Winthrop, MA and raised and educated in Kingston, NH, son of the late H. Richard and Gracia (Bancroft) Rowe, he attended the First Congregational Church in Kingston. Mr. Rowe graduated from Sanborn Seminary with the Class of 1961 and later graduated from Northern Essex Community College where he received a degree in business.
He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and worked as a telephone technician for GTE and Fujitsu Business Communications until his retirement.
A member of the IBEW, Mr. Rowe was an avid sports fan, especially of the Red Sox and Patriots. A member of the Haverhill High School Basketball Boosters Club, he enjoyed watching his two daughters' basketball careers with the Hillies.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Rowe enjoyed golfing, travel, reading, taking long scenic drives, and treating his grandchildren to day trips and vacations to Disney World. He had an interest in genealogy, politics, and Civil War history. He also enjoyed flower gardening and raising hibiscus plants. Mr. Rowe was known to all as a loving, caring, outgoing man with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Kathleen A. (Butler) Rowe, a son and daughter-in-law, Scott E. and Cheryl Thibodeau of LaPlata, MD, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin B. and James Grenier of Haverhill, and Melissa A. and John Burns of Haverhill, a brother, H. Richard Rowe, Jr. of Fremont, NH, six grandchildren, Emma Grenier, Cailin Grenier, Colin Burns, Logan Burns, Shannon Thibodeau, and Caitlin Thibodeau, a great granddaughter, Cora Hamilton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Rowe's Life Celebration on Wednesday, December 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Kingston, NH.
