Charles Perry Myers

October 13, 1927 — September 7, 2015

Charles P. Myers, aka Chuck, had a saying he'd picked up that 'Life is a trip and we are just passing through". He was born on October 13, 1927 in Northern Minnesota and credited his parents Charles W. & Florence Myers with establishing what would become as strong work ethic and honest character. He believed you get out of life what you put into it, and said he got a lot back.

He met and married his wife (Verna) Jean in Portland, Oregon; he considers his 66 year marriage and family his greatest achievement.

Curious, resourceful, and tenacious, he served in the US Army with assignments in both Tokyo and Yokohama. His service in the 61st Machine Records Unit ultimately led to a proud 39-year career with IBM, where he held various positions in Administration, Service and Management.

Charles loved to explore, travel and constantly learn. He loved people, was a loyal friend, and an encouraging mentor. He would say, 'No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care'.

He believed in strong sense of community and searched for opportunities to make a difference, whether in his work environment through the Adopt a School program, or making positive change in his own neighborhood. He had a strong desire to pass on positive traditional values to youth.

For these reasons, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Calvary Community Church, FORWARD-High School Ministries.

His journey with us ended on September 7th, 2015. He is survived by wife Jean, daughter Cathy and son-in-law Webb Edwards, as well as beloved extended family.

Charles said he had a grand trip, and would do it all over again!
