Charles Ignacio Marino

January 20, 1936 — October 30, 2018

Charles Ignacio Marino, 82, born on January 20, 1936, in Los Angeles, California, passed away October 30, 2018 after a 10 month battle with small cell lung cancer He lived in Las Vegas, Nevada at the time of his passing. During his 40 years in Las Vegas, Charles (Chuck) was the owner and operator of the infamous "Dew Drop Inn" on Boulder Highway from 1977 - 1994. Retired in 2000 from his self owned distributing company, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Thelma in 2001. He is survived by his children, daughter Sherri (Marino) Edwards and husband Dean of Chatsworth, Ca. and his son, Chris Marino of Las Vegas and two amazing grandchildren, Jade Edwards and Styrling Marino. He is also survived by his sister, Carole (Marino) Pyne and husband Paul of Massapequa, NY. Nephews Paul (Karen) Pyne, Scott (Andy) Pyne and Niece Joann (Errol) Wunderlin and family.

Chuck also had the tremendous support from his long time companion, Carmen Vieyra, who spent the last 15 years enjoying their time together.

Chuck had a large circle of friends, and was always at his most comfortable when surrounded by them. He loved the holidays because it gave him a chance to host family and friends, which made him so happy - he would put up Christmas decorations every year when his Grandchildren were younger because he knew how much they loved them. An Air Force veteran who always like to stay busy, he loved living in Las Vegas and spent his retirement caring for his house and garden. Chuck never lost his wonderful sense of humor, telling jokes to his doctors and nurses as they cared for him. Even during his hardest times he would always find a punchline to make those around him chuckle. His strong spirit and presence will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Chuck had quit smoking over 25 years ago and yet still was diagnosed with the type of cancer smoking can cause. He would want all former and current smokers to request a chest x-ray on your annual medical check ups even if you quit smoking years ago. In most cases lung cancer is diagnosed in the late stages due to lack of symptoms.
