Charles Carl
Konesky III
October 6, 1967 – April 8, 2026
Dr. Charles C. Konesky III passed away in his home on April 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with uveal melanoma. He was 58 years old.
Born on October 6, 1967, in Erie County, NY, United States, Charles lived with a rare blend of sharp wit, unmistakable candor, and a deeply generous heart. He had a way of speaking truth with both humor and clarity, often leaving those around him laughing, thinking, or both. His presence was vibrant and genuine, and he moved through life with authenticity that drew people in and made them feel seen.
One of Charles’s proudest accomplishments was earning his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, awarded in August 2025. This achievement reflected his dedication to lifelong learning, his perseverance, and his passion for making a meaningful impact.
He is survived by his loving husband, Darrin Kahn; his mother, Sandra Opera; his sisters, Kim Woodell, Christine Opera; his Godson and nephew, Michael Kindron; his niece Lindsay Woodell, and his nephew Ryan Woodell.
Additionally, Charles leaves behind a close circle of friends who became his chosen family, in Palm Springs and across the world.
He also leaves behind his two beloved dogs, Chelsea and Apple, who brought him constant companionship and joy. Both were adopted from Animal Samaritans, a reflection of Charles’ compassion and care for animals.
Charles will be remembered not only for his resilience, but for the laughter he sparked, the honesty he carried, and the love he gave so freely. His voice, full of insight and humor, will echo through the memories of those who knew him. His legacy is one of intellect, warmth, and a life lived unapologetically and well. He will be deeply missed and fiercely remembered.
Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, CA.
