Newton, NH:  Charles A. “Chuck” Griggs, Jr., 71, of Newton, NH, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA, following an extended illness.

Born in Haverhill, MA, son of Irene D. (Ladebush) Griggs and the late Charles A. Griggs, Sr., he attended Haverhill Trade School.  He worked as an Inspector for the Raytheon Company until his retirement in June of 2007. 

A member of Mary Mother of the Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Newton, NH, he had previously served as a member of the Social Life Committee.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Mulrey Council 7097, serving as Past Financial Secretary and a Fourth Degree member and past Faithful Pilot of the Exeter Assembly 0639 and was a certified member of the Honor Guard.

Mr. Griggs enjoyed bowling, golfing, motorcycling, NASCAR and drag racing.  An avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed attending cruise night at Skip’s Hamburgers in Merrimac, MA, and also enjoyed spending time on facebook.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary V. (Busch) Griggs, his mother, Irene (Ladebush) Griggs of Haverhill, MA; a son, Michael C. Griggs and his wife Deb Della Selva of Hampstead; a daughter, Michele Vallier of Hooksett; a brother, Robert Griggs of Haverhill, MA, a sister, Gail Gillen of Merrimac, MA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, April 22, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.  His funeral will begin on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 AM in Mary Mother of the Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Newton, NH.  Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford, MA.
