Charles Corbin Devalon, also known as Chuck or Corb, age 94, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage, California.
Corb was born in San Gabriel, California, (then known as Wilmar), on July 10, 1931. He was the second of three children born to Charles Corbin and Helen (Peterson) Devalon. He was preceded in death by his sister Joan, his first wife Marian, his second wife Marilyn, and his nephew John-Francis Joyce.
Corb graduated from Pomona College and served in the U.S. Military, stationed at China Lake. He worked for TRW, (now Northrop Grumman), as a computer programmer during the Apollo space missions, retiring in 1991.
Corb has been a long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church in Palm Desert. For the past couple of years he has lived in a “casita” at The Carlotta where he met many wonderful new friends and enjoyed his new community. He was an avid golfer until his eyesight no longer allowed him to be on the course every day. He walked every morning right up until a few weeks before his passing.
Corb is survived by his younger sister Judy Sockman and her children Stuart Sockman (Andrea), Jenny Garcia (John), Keith Sockman, Susan Pfuetze (Robb), his sister Joan’s children Bruce Serrao (Dolores), Nancy Looy (Steve), Bonnie Serrao, Fran Serrao, step-sons Roger Peterson and Douglas Peterson, many great nieces and nephews , and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service and Interment will be held at Forest Lawn, 69855 Ramon Rd., Cathedral City, on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
