- A husband, father, Lolo, grandfather, and friend was battling with Parkinson’s Disease with Chronic Kidney Disease- passed away in Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in the City of Downey, at the age of 77, due to complication of Sepsis Pneumonia on Tuesday April 25, 2023.
Cesar or “Chat” as friends called him was born September 20, 1945. He graduated from Urdaneta High School in Pangasinan, Philippines, then attended St. Louis College in Baguio Philippines, and Far Eastern University Philippines while in college. He did not finish his studies and decided his career to be in the military and police for anti-drug unit officer for some years in the Philippines until he migrated in Papua New Guinea briefly and then his younger sister Helen helped him to come here to the United States in mid-80’s.
Cesar Sr. and Ethel married on Nov.18, 1970, and soon after welcomed their first child, Cesar Jr. In short work, the family grew to four with the birth of daughter Cindy.
During his prime years, Cesar Sr. was very hard working. He had his own business called Manila Auto Sales where he was selling brand new and used cars then the business with the home loans and real estate that was called FINEX. My Dad was so proud of it that he even changed his license plate toFINEX1, FINEX2 and FINEX3.
I can say that my Dad and my Mom were very generous to us throughout the years. There were several occasions that my parents were purchasing plane tickets for the 6 grandchildren when we were vacationing to the Philippines. Aside from the gifts that they were giving to their grandchildren.
Through the years, Cesar Sr. enjoyed traveling back and forth to the Philippines and spending time with his family. He loved visiting Philippines. He was making his annual trips and frequenting his vacation with his family visiting different beaches and vacation spots in the Philippines. We always enjoyed vacationing with the whole family whether it’s within the United States or the Philippines.
He has a good taste in wearing dress clothes, full suits, different neck ties and expensive shoes. Fixed sleek hair and expensive perfumes. However, even Cesar Sr. has been here in the US, he always had his Filipino accent ( an inside joke 😊).
Being a grandpa or a Lolo came naturally to Cesar Sr. His grandkids loved joking and talking to him. He always tells the grandkids to never forget to go to church as a member of Iglesia ni Cristo. It is very important for him and reminds the whole family never forgets worship service every Thursdays and Sundays. He likes cleaning the pool to sparkling water and the back patio to watch all his grandkids can enjoy swimming while barbecuing and having fun.
He likes inviting his very good old friends at home just barbequing, eating, dancing cha-cha by the pool and singing karaoke with what they call “Tararat boys”. ( A bunch of old grandpa feeling groovy LoL)
Cesar Sr. is survived by his wife, Ethel; their children Cesar Jr. and Cindy, Ethel(daughter-in-law) Jose(son-in-law); six grandchildren, Joennica, Jonelle, Joey, Ethan, Jurrein and Elijah.
Please join his family for drop-in memorials:
