Celsa Lawan Tantoy

Celsa Tantoy or "Nanay" was born on August 14, 1926 in Bacuag, Surigao Del Norte. She married Edilberto Tantoy on July 15, 1944. They had seven children and lived in Cebu City.

Nanay was a teacher by profession and taught elementary for over 20 years.

In hopes of providing a better future for their children, Tatay and Nanay migrated to the United States in 1980. Nanay was 54 years old at that time and became a full time housewife while Tatay started his career in the United States as an accountant. Overtime, the children started their own family and career.

Nanay will always be remembered for being kind, warm-hearted and a very generous person. She was the family matriarch, the glue that held not just her family together, but friends and relatives as well. She was always surrounded by people and would gather everybody every chance she got. She was a die-hard Los Angeles Lakers fan and loved Manny Pacquiao.

Nanay and Tatay were married for 67 years.

Nanay is survived by seven children (Leticia, Ilufredo, Cesar, Edcel, Amelia, Grace and Ron), two sons-in law (Rey and Val), three daughters-in-law (Mila, Ruth and Lea), ten grandchildren (Shirlyn, Ilufredo Jr. , Kathy, Claudil, Michael, Christina, Casey,Melissa, Marian and Patrick), one granddaughter-in-law (Karen) and four great grandchildren (Tiffany, Matthew, Karissa and Clyde Jess).
