Cecilia Peters

October 27, 1950 — May 24, 2025

Cecilia Peters, gracefully departed this world on May 24, 2025, in Arcadia, California. Born on October 27, 1950, in Santa Cruz, Zambales, Philippines, Cecilia touched the lives of many with her extraordinary kindness, humility, and joyful spirit.

Cecilia was lovingly known by her husband as Sweet Pea, Babers (her Filipino nickname from childhood was "Baby"), Bu-ee (that's "Beauty" without the "t"), Shor-ee (that's "Shorty" without the "t"), Care Bear, Prayer Bear, Share Bear, Shema, Pumpkin, Punkin, Punkinkins, Little Big Heart, and around 55 other mostly contextual nicknames.

As a gifted culinary artist, Cecilia had a profound talent for cooking that brought together friends and family alike around the table. Her delightful dishes were not only loved by those closest to her but also enjoyed by many who had the privilege of tasting her creations during her time working for notable figures such as Dr. Corlin (President of the AMA from 2001-2002), Barbara Sinatra, and Oscar-winning set designer Robert Boyle. Her award-winning banana bread, though unofficially recognized, will always hold a cherished place in the hearts of her loved ones, particularly her husband, Craig, who firmly believed it deserved accolades (he is the one who labeled it "award-winning").

Above all, Cecilia's heart was dedicated to her faith and community. She believed deeply in serving her Heavenly Father, YHWH, and had a profound love for Yahushua, the Messiah. ("Yahushua" is the transliteration used by Cecilia for the Hebrew word most often translated as "Jesus"). For many years, she walked alongside sincere believers who advocate honoring the Torah and the Prophets, and Cecilia derived immense joy from gathering to celebrate the sacred Feasts of the Faith, including the weekly Seventh Day Shabbat, Pesach/Passover and Chag Matzot/Unleavened Bread, Shavuot/Pentecost, and Sukkot/Tabernacles. Cecilia further upheld Yom Teruah/Trumpets and Yom ha'Kippurim/The Day of Atonement. These observances were a true testament to her devotion and a source of happiness that she cherished.

Cecilia also "[extended] her hand to the poor." Mishle/Proverbs 31:20 She willingly gave to numerous charities: DAV, Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children's Hospital, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and many, many others, including needy friends in the Philippines.

Throughout her life, Cecilia exhibited an unwavering spirit, even amidst challenges. She faced a seven-year battle with cancer, demonstrating incredible strength and resilience. While the final five months were the most difficult, her care and love for others was still so apparent, and her gratitude continued to brighten the days of those around her. Cecilia’s benevolent heart touched countless individuals, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and grace.

A loving and faithful wife to Craig, a sister to Josie and Ramon, and a beloved aunt to many, her family was always central to Cecilia’s life. She provided love and support, never hesitating to share a laugh, a comforting word, or an exhortation. Cecilia will be deeply missed by Craig, Josie, Ramon, and other family members who remain grateful for the moments they shared and the love they experienced.

A visitation in honor of Cecilia will take place on June 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn - Cypress - Hope Chapel in Cypress, California, followed by a funeral service at the Patriots Chapel from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together during this time, celebrating the beautiful life that Cecilia lived.

Cecilia Peters leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. As we reflect on her life, we hold dear the memories of laughter, love-filled gatherings, and her culinary gifts that enriched our lives. Cecilia’s beautiful heart, her kind soul, and the light of faith she brought into this world will undoubtedly live on, much like the delicious flavors she so lovingly served up, comforting and nourishing all who were fortunate enough to experience them.
