Cathy Ann Mccreary

Cathy Ann McCreary, age 68, of Gilbert Arizona, was taken to heaven on the wings of angels
Sunday March 19, 2017.
Cathy was born October 28, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Garrison (Garry) Harker Ebbert and
Dorothy Maxine (Reed) Ebbert. Garry, Dorothy, (Cathy, and her younger brother Robert (Bob)
moved to California in 1956. After graduating from La Puente High School in 1966, she married
on December 13, 1970. In 1972, Cathy had their only child – a daughter, born July 3rd.
Cathy received her Bachelor of Science from Cal Poly Pomona as well as her teaching
credential and bi-lingual degree (Spanish) in June 1971. She completed her Master of Science
in August 1986 from Cal State Fullerton. She was a teacher with Rowland Unified School
District for 30 years, retiring in 2004.
August 13, 1997, Cathy witnessed the birth of her first and only grandchild, Ashleigh Michelle.
After 25 years residing in Diamond Bar Cathy retired. She and her family relocated to Gilbert,
Arizona. She was a life-long RV traveler who enjoyed seeing our beautiful country on camping
trips with her family. She was an avid square dancer in the eighties, adored caring for her
granddaughter every available minute and in her later years, discovered a love for going on
cruises.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her high school sweetheart,
best friend and husband of 47 years, James (Jim) Oliver McCreary; daughter Michelle Ann; and
granddaughter Ashleigh Michelle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday April 1, 2017 at the Church of our Heritage,
Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA with graveside services
immediately following. The family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 PM Friday, March 31, 2017
in the chapel at the mortuary building within the Forest Lawn Covina Hills Memorial Park.
