Catherine Mason Peck, kindly known as "Rene" was born on April 17, 1953 in Greenville, Mississippi to Jessie James Dorsey Sr. and Geneva Lynette Mason. She grew up in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School in 1970. After high school, Catherine attended Mississippi Delta Junior College where she received numerous certifications in Aircraft and Electronics, which started her career at Boeing Inc.
Catherine married James Peck Jr. on April 21, 1973 in Greenville, MS. They were happily married for 40 years and had five children. Catherine was a member of House of Prayer C.O.G.I.C., where she was an active member within the church. She enjoyed ministering, singing in the church choir and she was also a member of a traveling singing group, "The Voices of Praise."
In 1989, Catherine and her family relocated to Norwalk, California, were they established a new church home with Revival Time C.O.G.I.C. located in Compton, CA. After arriving in California, Catherine completed her Associates Degree at Cerritos Community College working in the medical field for 15 years.
Catherine Peck was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and person. She enjoyed giving, ministering, singing and living by the word of God. Rene was a very articulate person and showed friendliness at all times. She loved visiting convalescent homes, testifying and caring for others.
Catherine Peck, 60, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at her home in Bellflower, California. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Dorsey Sr. and Geneva Mason, along with her brothers Malcolm Baker and Artist Mason. She is survived by her devoted husband James Peck Jr., her children Christopher Mason, Gysamuel Humes, Kara Peck, Makia Peck, Jametta Peck, Tangi Peck, one beautiful daughter-in-law Teresa Mason, one future son-in-law Cameron Rowe, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings, Carlos and Ruby Martinez of Rochester, NY; Rosemond Hall of Rochester, NY; Geneva and General Washington of Charlotte, NC; John Mason of Chicago, IL; Eldridge and Laurie Mason of Southfield, MI; Michael and Nofoao Dorsey of Bellflower, CA. There are a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, relatives, in-laws, colleagues and associates that were so very special to her.
