Catherine Meikle of North Hills CA, age 79, passed away on January 10th. Her last days were spent surrounded by family.
Cathy was born on December 22nd, 1934 in Rutherglen Scotland, to John and Bridget McDougall.
Cathy grew up in Rutherglen, Scotland and at age 16 became a bookkeeper. She was great at typing and shorthand.
Cathy met her sweetheart, John, when she was 20 years old.
In 1954 Cathy sailed to America with her Father, and sisters Nan and Grace. But became homesick and returned to Scotland in 1956.
Cathy and John married in 1957 and had their first son, John, in 1958. They returned to America in 1959 where they continued to build their family, having Brian, Ruth, Karen, Donna and Kenny.
Cathy had a love for dancing and spent many weekends with her siblings and friends dancing the evenings away.
With her Scottish family and friends, they created a bowling league and spent many fun filled nights.
Soccer was a family affair and in their younger days, every weekend was spent on the fields, John coaching, Cathy acting as team mother and their children playing the team sport.
Cathy was a special education teacher for the Los Angeles school district for 20 odd years.
Cathy was a kind and compassionate woman. She had a big heart, even bigger smile and a larger than life laugh!
Cathy was sweet and caring to all who knew her.
She was always supportive. You could count on her no matter what!
She was completely devoted to her family, always putting others first. Her family was her life!
Cathy was tough as nails. After becoming ill, for many years you wouldn't know it. She rarely complained and endured so much pain. She was a fighter until then end!
Cathy was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.
Cathy is survived by her 4 children, 8 grandchildren: Laura, Mandy, Shannon, Kari, Justin, Joshua, Jordan and James, 7 great grandchildren: Kaeleb, Liam, Mason, Aubrey, Annistyn, Fuller and Addison and her 5 sisters.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Brother John, Sisters Nan and Grace, Son Brian and Daughter Ruth.
She will be greatly missed by all!
