Catherine Bercero Luabena

Catherine Bercero Luabena, or Cathy as everyone remembers her by, was born at Subic Bay in the Philippines on January 12, 1962. She would then immigrate with her family to the U.S. and meet many wonderful loved ones. Ever since she was in junior high, she had had always known her calling was and would soon begin her nursing career at Los Robles Regional Hospital in her senior year of high school as a lab technician. Soon, she will meet and marry her husband, Randy Luabena, who would help support her towards her future as a nurse. She graduated from Riverside Community College as a Registered Nurse and started her Oncology career at Saint John's Regional Hospital in Oxnard. She would leave her legacy in many places, most notably of which being her dream job at UCLA's Boyer Oncology Center, working the floor and becoming the Nurse Manager for the outpatient care facility, and most recently as a case manager at Evolent Health. She was always held in high esteem amongst her friends and peers for her leadership, intelligence, diligence and empathy for those around her. She was adored and beloved by the countless patients and their families she had helped through her career and she is sorely missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Agapita and Bonifacio Bercero, and survived by her two brothers, Dexter and Earl Bercero, her husband, Randy Luabena, and son, Jared Luabena. Services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2 pm in Cypress, CA on May 7, 2021 with an open casket viewing before and after.
