Carren Ong, born in 1965 in Singapore, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles on July 16, 2025, after a courageous one-year battle with cancer. Carren, known also by her maiden name, Wuen Yee Soon, leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carren dedicated the early years of her career to banking before transitioning into a role that many would characterize as her true vocation: that of a devoted homemaker and church volunteer. A proud graduate, she earned her bachelor's degree in economics with honors from the National University of Singapore. In her transition from the corporate world to home life, Carren found fulfillment in serving the Lord. She committed herself fully to her church community, taking on roles as a volunteer church secretary, small group leader, and adult class leader in various cities where she lived. These accomplishments reflect her deep-seated belief in the importance of nurturing one's faith and the community around her.
Carren was blessed with a vibrant personality, possessing a remarkable gift of hospitality which allowed her to welcome and connect with people from all walks of life. Her artistic flair was evident in her writing and her keen ability to make things beautiful, enriching the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Ong, and their cherished children, Nicholas Ong and Lydia Ong. Carren also leaves behind her father, Kai Chung Soon, and sisters, May Yee Soon and Hwa Yee Soon. She was profoundly influenced by her late mother, Sin Kiek Jong.
One of Carren's final exhortations exemplifies her approach to life: "Be Well-Rounded, Celebrate Colorfully and Rest Quietly, Drink Deeply from the Earth, Enjoy Your Natural Beauty, Give Generously to Nourish Others." This heartfelt message reflects her spirit and the love she shared so generously with others.
Carren’s life will be celebrated during visitation at Forest Lawn - Glendale (1712 S Glendale Ave) on July 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. On the following day, there will be a funeral service at the Church of the Recessional at Forest Lawn - Glendale on July 28, 2025, beginning at 1:30 PM, with Senior Pastor Mathew John of Lake Avenue Church officiating.
As family and friends gather to honor her memory, they will carry forward the grace, generosity, and love that defined her life.
