Carolyn Sue Janes Wood, 78, passed from this world into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 3, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Granada Hills, CA.
Sue was born December 13, 1942, the only child of Paul and Mary Linn Janes. Sue grew up in Pleasant Valley, WV, and graduated from East Fairmont High School, Class of 1960. She proudly represented the school as Bee Mascot with amazing energy and school spirit! She went on to earn a degree at Fairmont State College, where she met the love of her life, John Wood. They were married July 4, 1964, and raised three sons, Brian, Chad, and Eric. Sue loved her family, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and wonderful friend to many.
Sue is survived by her husband, John Wood; Sons, Brian and wife Karen Wood, Chad and wife Kristy Rodriguez Wood and Eric and wife Charity Wood, all of CA. Twelve grandchildren, Cassidy, Clayton, Faire, Audrey, Jesse and his wife Rachel, Hannah
and her husband Grant, Tiffany, Liberty, Haley, Emma, Tyler and Austin. Three great grandchildren, Madelyn, Emily and Ella Grace.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Linn Janes, her in-laws, Orr and Becky Wood, and brother-in-law Ron Wood, all from West Virginia.
Sue's incomparable personality, so full of fun, grace, love, laughter, and the ability to make lifelong friends will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
In her professional career, Sue served as Physical Director at the YMCA in NY and CA for over twenty years. She also worked at St Ives Corporation, CA as an Administrative Assistant, and Customer Service Manager.
Sue and John loved to travel and spent wonderful vacations all over the world. Many trips to Hawaii, and Florida to The Villages, attending the annual West Virginia Picnic. They also attended many of Sue's EFHS class reunions in Fairmont, WV., and vacations with family on the Tygart Valley River at Robert and Tanya Wood's house, always a favorite, making so many memories to cherish!
Sue loved Jesus, and was a faithful member of Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch, CA. She and John hosted Bible study groups in their home for many years.
Private graveside service for immediate family will be held at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA.
