~A testament to a Life of Service~
Our Beloved
Carolyn R. Kinsale Ph.D

Carolyn Ruth Kinsale was born on March 24, 1946 to Reverend Finley and First Lady Sallie Roberson in Kilgore, Texas.

Carolyn was the youngest of (13) thirteen children. That's Preachers kids to add to it. Carolyn had no problem with exercising her authority as the baby girl.

In our family we do not like to use the word "spoiled". We like to say that we are loved a lot. But truthfully, Carolyn was spoiled. Her brothers and sisters catered to her every desire. Her sister Annie continued this until Carolyn went home to be with the Lord. We laugh and say, "God has His hands full now." All kidding aside. This made Carolyn the woman she was. She was full of love, had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone if she could.

Carolyn accepted Christ at an early age. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Finley and Sallie Roberson and her 12 (twelve) brothers and sisters. Rev. Finnell Roberson, Jimmie Roberson, Bobby Roberson, Willie Roberson, A.B. aka Sonny Roberson, Art Harrold, Patricia Coleman, Cornesia AKA Connie Wilson, Alma Roberson, Dora Miller and Dr. Ann Wilson-Shah.

She leaves to mourn her sister Annie Johnson, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, a host of family, church family, sorority sisters and friends.

Upon graduating from High School Carolyn moved to the bright lights of Los Angeles. There she met and married the love of her life Edward Kinsale from Trinidad and Tobago. They shared a love story for 33 years until September 25, 2006 when God called Edward home. To this union no children were born. But they did have one God-Daughter who was their niece Vikita Poindexter.

Carolyn's accomplishments and achievements in one word were "outstanding". But the thing that she was most proud of was her relationship with Christ.

• Carolyn received the follow degrees and accolades just to name a few.

So as you can see Education was important to Carolyn. Not just education but Christian education. Carolyn was very active in her community, sorority and church.

Carolyn worked for the County of Los Angeles as a Social Worker for over 25 years. Although she did not have children of her own, her passion was to make sure that no child was ever hurt, harmed or damaged. She fought tirelessly day and night to make sure that children could have the best possible life and living arrangements.

Carolyn suffered a back injury in 1978 which left her disabled. But that did not stop her. She legislated to fight for those with disabilities. Her goal was to make sure that every person with a disability had the same quality of life.

Carolyn loved her church. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church for over 22 years. This was her second home. She attended faithfully until her health begins to decline.

Carolyn would not want us to say goodbye, but I will see you later. She would tell you, "Don't Grieve for Me as I am in the Arms of the Almighty.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I've found that peace at the end of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh and a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things too I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savored much.
Great family, good friends, good times, and loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

On behalf of the family, thank you for all the prayers and support during our time of bereavement. If you would like to contact the family, you may do so by contacting:
