Carolyn Dae Allen

September 24, 1935 – February 9, 2021

An angel on earth, she cared for everyone before herself.

Incredible daughter, sister and aunt, Carolyn loved her family above all things. Unselfish always, she was there to help and support her family through difficult times. The eldest of four children, she often took on the role of mother to her youngest siblings in support of her own mother. Without regret, she cared for her parents as they aged and battled illness, sacrificing her own aspirations for their comfort. As her siblings married, Carolyn embraced their spouses and adored their children. Her nephews and nieces were her pride and joy, and she rejoiced in each of their accomplishments from first tooth to first step to graduations.

An artist, a true perfectionist in all that she did, Carolyn worked tirelessly from her teenage years through mid-life when, at the age of 49, encephalitis took away her wonderful talent. Her artwork: animation, pencil portraiture, photography speak to her passion and devotion to her art and her family. She captured the likeness and the soul of her loved ones in photographs and portraits. They are treasures for those left with her memory to enjoy.

Carolyn will be remembered as the young girl who loved competitive figure roller skating, and continued to do her 200 kicks a day as an octogenarian. She will be admired for her boundless energy in defense of the values her parents taught her, the strong work ethic that she embodied, and the comedic talent that remained with her until her very last day.

In her final years, as memory became illusive, Carolyn wanted to be addressed as "Marilyn Monroe", and so with all the love we can gather, we say goodbye to you, dear Marilyn, you will be sorely missed.

Carolyn is survived by her brothers William Lee Allen of Thetford, VT and Richard Cameron Allen of Thousand Oaks, CA, and predeceased by her sister Barbara Susan Allen and her parents Cameron William and Alwilda Green Allen. She will be memorialized at a private ceremony at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on March 30.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Mary Health of the Sick, 2929 Theresa Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320. Please note that the donation is in memory of Carolyn Dae Allen.
