Caroline Fontanilla Fernandez

March 13, 1956 — March 29, 2025

Caroline was born and raised in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines, where she attended East Central Elementary School and Tayug National High School. She pursued Pre-Nursing at Saint Louis University in Baguio and graduated from Baguio General Hospital’s Nursing program in 1979. That same year, she married the love of her life, Danny, on July 22, 1979.

In 1986, with immense courage and sacrifice, Caroline moved to the U.S. alone, leaving behind her young children and devoted husband in pursuit of a better future for their family. She worked tirelessly as a nurse for 33 years, caring for her patients with the same compassion and commitment she showed to her loved ones. In 1992, her lifelong dream became a reality when she was able to bring her entire family to the U.S. Together, they built a life filled with love, enjoying cooking, traveling, gardening, and creating cherished memories with those closest to her.

While she found success in her career, Caroline’s greatest devotion was always to her family. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing mahjong, testing her luck at the casino, enjoying jigsaw puzzles and games like Candy Crush, and cooking her famous pancit. Above all, she treasured time spent with family and friends, filling their lives with warmth, laughter, and love. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel special and cherished.

In recent years, Caroline faced health challenges with remarkable strength and grace, always supported by her selfless husband, Danny. As her health declined, he remained steadfast by her side, caring for her with unwavering love and dedication. After a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, she is now at peace in God’s loving embrace, reunited with her beloved parents. Though we miss her deeply, we find comfort in knowing she is free from pain.

Caroline leaves behind her loving husband, Danny; her children, Andy, Janice, Donnie, and Danica Mae; her daughter-in-law, Rocio; her sons-in-law, William and Timothy; and her grandchildren, Nicholas, Eva, Logan, Mya, and Jordan. She will also be dearly missed by her siblings, Edwin, Jessie Grace, Penelope, Felma, Lee, and Renfred. Though our hearts ache with her loss, we find solace in the beautiful memories she gave us. Her love and laughter will continue to inspire us every day. While she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever sing and dance in our hearts. Caroline's legacy of care will live on in all those she touched.

Rest in peace, Mama. We love you and miss you forever.
