Carol Ann Stenberg, devoted mother, wife, daughter and sister, passed on to heaven Sunday, January 26th. She is now with her husband and love, James Alvin Stenberg, in that place where souls are joined.
She is survived by her three children, Susan Stenberg, Byron Stenberg and his wife, Rosa, and Pamela Abrahamsson-Clausen, and her husband, Paul.
Her grandchildren include Amanda, Amber and her husband Johnny, Alyssa and husband Pat, Ariana and Terri and her partner Shawn. Great grandchildren include little Michael and Jonah, Desiree, Hailey, Shawn, Evan, and a new little great-great from Desiree.
Her three children, Susan, Byron and Pam, were lucky to have her as our mother. She was, and always will be, the keeper of our heart, confidences and love. We, in turn, were her pride and joy. As she used to say (she had a great and sharp edge sense of humor) - "I really can't stand children. But I love you guys." And she meant it. No art project was anything less than a masterpiece in her eyes, our strengths were celebrated and our shortcomings were - well, nothing to her.
She was born December 1, 1931 in Los Angeles, CA, and was a sunshine baby her whole life. She was a capri, t-shirt and shorts-loving mom and spent her teen years on the beach whenever she could.
She was married to our dad February 10, 1956, and they were together almost 70 years. She was proud to be Mrs. James Stenberg. He was the love of her life and she was the love and pride of his. In losing our father almost four years ago, a part of my mother's heart went with him and never really returned. We know she is happy with him now and at peace together. They held hands everywhere they went and never let a day go by without a kiss.
She had a sister, Frances, our Aunt who spoiled us greatly, a mother who was strong and fearless and self-determined, Ella, and a father, Jack Keller. Her birth father, Clarence Watkins, gave us our mom and that's more than anyone could ask for. She always loved knowing the comings and goings and adventures of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She took joy in being at home, being with her family, and simple pleasures. A trip to the beach for fish and chips was a high point. Family celebrations were a treasure. Mom and Dad gave us a foundation and a home built on love that has stayed with us where ever we go - and will remain in our hearts.
We thank you, Mom, for devoting your life to being our mother. It has made us who we are – and who we will be in this world.
