Carmen Sanderson was born March 2, 1927 in Los Angeles, California, and celebrated a landmark animation career at the Walt Disney Studios, spanning over 55 years within various disciplines of the Studio's Inking & Painting Department. Carmen grew up in LA and studied art in school while working at a local candy factory near her home.

Remembered for her quick wit, boisterous laughter, tiny stature and larger-than-life personality, Carmen was a vibrant spirit and instant friend to all. Carmen passed peacefully on Friday October 6th, 2017 at the age of 90. Her son, Robert Sanderson, her sister Mary McLaughlin, and brother Robert de la Torre survive her.
