It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Carmen Barragan Mejia on November 27, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on May 28, 1930, Carmen left this world peacefully at her home, surrounded by love. From the moment she entered our lives, Carmen filled our hearts with warmth and affection.
As a single mother, Carmen raised nine children. Her dream was to create a loving home and raise a family focused on family love and values. Through her hard work, resilience, and unwavering love, she made that dream a reality. Carmen’s legacy lives on through her eight children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. Carmen’s Children are Jaime who has passed, Olga, Jose, Yolanda, Angie, Tony, Denise, Carla, and Ray. She is also survived by her siblings, including a brother and a sister.
Carmen’s devotion to her family and friends was evident from a young age. Her kindness, humor, and dedication never wavered, and she approached life’s challenges with strength and grace. She was a pillar of support to all who knew her, and her spirit continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
The Mejia family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us and cared for Carmen in recent months. Your kindness and generosity have meant the world to us.
A celebration of Carmen’s life will be held at Forest Lawn, St. Martha’s Church (Mass), SGV Event Center 15904 Old Valley Blvd The Bourbon Room (Reception) following the burial. We invite all friends and family to join us in honoring her memory.
In keeping with Carmen’s joyful spirit, we ask that you bring your favorite memory of her as we bid her farewell, celebrating the incredible woman she was and the incredible mark she left on all our hearts.
