It is with great sadness that the family of Carmen Sue Bourguignon announces her passing on Saturday, June 30, 2018. Carmen a wife, foster mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law and aunt, went to be with the Lord at the age of 58 years. Carmen will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend George of 32 years of marriage. Carmen will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Charlene Pesicka, and by her brother and sisters, Randy (Jodi), Karen, and Rhonda (Wayne) Warriner, by foster son, John David Terry, and by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Carmen was preceded in death by her father Richard, nephew Cody and niece Justine.
Carmen was born in Deadwood, South Dakota and grew up in North Orange County in California where she never left. George and Carmen had a spectacular wedding at the Crystal Cathedral on August 3, 1985. She was the first of her siblings to earn a college degree at Cypress College graduating in June of 1993.
Carmen loved God, family, friends, work, and everything in between. Carmen was dedicated to Don Markland of Markland Industries for 36 years wearing a multitude of hats. There was never a challenge to grand for Carmen to take on and if something needed to be done she was the first to volunteer. She never hesitated to use her skills helping the church with their bookkeeping needs. She taught Sunday School for numerous years and opened her doors to Bible Studies and anyone that needed a place to call home. Carmen loved to watch the Angels play baseball. She played softball with the church and alongside George on outside leagues for many years. She was a savvy online scrabble player, who never failed to fleece her own family in their friendly games. Carmen loved horses and all her dogs. Carmen was simply beautiful inside and out. Her journey through life touched many and she loved much.
A Viewing of Carmen will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Forest Lawn, 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service in memory of Carmen will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., at Orangewood Avenue Baptist Church, 8421 Orangewood Avenue, Garden Grove, with Rev. Tye McClain and Rev. Wayne Derrick officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Forest Lawn with Rev. Barry Bruce officiating. A Celebration of Carmen's life will be held at Orangewood Avenue Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m.
