Carmella Kathleen Pappas

Carmella Kathleen Pappas, 87, born on April 20, 1931, in Newark, New Jersey, passed away October 30, 2018. She resided in Lakewood, California at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a wonderful neighbor and friend. She was born in Newark, New Jersey, where she was raised, went to school and also met her husband, Crist. They were married, had three sons and then moved their family to California, where they settled in Lakewood. Together they raised their boys into adulthood and then her husband passed away suddenly in 1988. She lived in Lakewood for 49 years, 30 of those as a widow. Her life was characterized by hospitality and helpfulness, she was always looking for ways to volunteer her time and her talents. She worked at her local elementary school until she was in her 80's and she volunteered at her church as well. She was most happy when she could serve or help in any way.

She is survived by her three sons, Chris, Pete and Mark, and eight grandchildren, Adrian, Jennifer and Marisa, Daniel, Alyssa, Jacob and Sarah, and Harrison, and seven great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held for her at Emmanuel Reformed Church, on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. The address is 15941 Virginia Ave., Paramount, CA 90723.
