Carmelita Burgos Moya

February 13, 1943 — October 13, 2025

Carmelita Moya, born on February 13, 1943 in Taytay, Rizal, Philippines, passed away on October 13, 2025 at the age of 82.

Carmelita's life was a testament to courage, perseverance, and love. At just 25 years old, with hope and determination as her compass, she arrived in the United States in 1968 to build a new beginning. She carried with her the strength of her heritage, the dreams of her future, and the belief that through hard work and faith, she could create a life full of promise for herself and her family. And she did exactly that.

As a mother of four, Carmelita poured her heart into nurturing her children. She raised them with a blend of gentleness and strength — teaching them to stand tall, speak their truth, care for others, and trust in themselves. She was the one they turned to for advice, comfort, a warm meal, a listening ear, or simply the reassurance that everything would be okay. To her grandchildren, she was a source of delight — the warm embrace, the encouraging voice, the shining example of resilience and joy.

Carmelita devoted 51 years to her work as a cosmetologist and entrepreneur. She didn’t just style hair — she lifted spirits. Her salon chair became a place where people talked, laughed, confided, and healed. She created a space where everyone felt seen, valued, and beautiful in their own skin. Her business lasted decades because it was powered not only by skill, but by love, empathy, and genuine connection. She touched lives one conversation, one smile, one gentle touch at a time.

In her later years, Carmelita embraced the beauty of the world around her. She traveled, exploring new places with curiosity and delight, savoring the landscapes, cultures, and simple wonders life continued to offer. She found joy in sunlit skies, warm gatherings, and quiet moments with loved ones. Her favorite color, yellow, matched her spirit — radiant, warm, and full of light. And the number 13, her lucky number, reflected her wonderful ability to find magic, luck, and meaning where others might not have looked.

Though her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, her presence remains — in every lesson she taught, in every tradition she passed down, in every act of kindness, in every person whose confidence she nurtured, and in every memory brightened by her laughter. Her life was a gift, her legacy a blessing.

Carmelita’s life will be honored with a viewing on November 14, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, CA 91205, and a funeral service on November 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3722 Boyce Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90039, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, CA 91205. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.

She leaves behind a legacy of beauty, courage, devotion, and joy. Carmelita will always be remembered. She will always be loved. And she will always remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to have known her.
