Carlo Alberto Scialanga was born in Amatrice, Italy on May 9, 1928. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine Pfeifer, his grandchildren, Anthony and Martin. He is also survived by his niece, Rita Bohanan, his grandniece, Sara Witham, and her husband, Andy and two children, Lake and Ever. Carlo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn in August of 2006, and his son-in-law, Rob Pfeifer in May of 2010.
He left Italy in 1956 to pursue the American dream and was fueled by his passion for horses and through his love for Thoroughbred Horseracing. He pursued a career in the equine industry and worked for more than 20 years at Pickwick Stables in Burbank. Through his hard work, focus and dedication, Carlo was able to fulfill his American dream when he purchased his beloved Bella Vista Stable, in Sunland-Tujunga, California. Right up until 89 years old, you could find Carlo every day on his tractor working from sunrise till' sundown. (Boy, did he really love that tractor!) In addition to his love for horses, Carlo had a soft-spot in his heart for dogs. He would take in stray dogs any time he came across them and adopt them into his ranch family, having more than 50 dogs in his lifetime, give or take.
Carlo was a phenomenal son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joy in life came through having the title of "grandfather". He could be described as kind, generous and inspiring. He always encouraged everyone around him to chase their dreams, follow their heart and pursue their passions. He was hard-working and big-hearted, and his legacy will live on in all of those he leaves behind. He will be forever missed, loved and remembered.
