Carlo Fernandez Magno

October 4, 1954 — January 26, 2021

Carlo "Bim" Fernandez Magno V, 66, born on October 4, 1954, passed away January 26, 2021 due to COVID-19 complications in Irvine, California. He resided in Tustin, California since 1996 and moved to Corona, California in 2015. He then moved to Aliso Viejo, California in July 2020.
Bim was born in Sampaloc, Metro-Manila, Philippines to Ismaela Mora Fernandez and Carlo Tugade Magno Sr., and is the fourth of seven children; Boy, Butch, Babes, Bim, Mais, Gadjing and Ana. He was a responsible son and caring brother who always looked out for the welfare and well-being of his older brothers and younger sisters. He attended elementary school and graduated at Jose Abad Santos Memorial School (J.A.S.M.S.) in Manila. Bim attended high school at the University of the Philippines Preparatory School in Manila. He continued at the collegiate level at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. He joined the Beta Sigma Fraternity while working on his liberal arts courses, and later completed his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering at National University.
Bim started his career in Information Technology (IT) in 1978 as a software programmer/analyst, advancing to management within a few years. His drive and experience gave way to an opportunity as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) - migrating to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in 1982. Bim's career flourished, from a Systems Analyst/Programmer to Corporate Division Manager at Jeraisy Computer & C Services, and in 1995 he expanded into Business Development, expanding the product lines of DiGi Systems Inc. and extending their reach to the rest of the world.
Bim travelled all over the globe, planning and managing exhibits in major computer conferences in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. His success and his charming and infectious personality made a difference as he inspired others to improve their lives. His career in the Riyadh, KSA culminated to opening doors to start a Saudi Arabia funded company in Orange County, California. In 1997 Bim migrated to the United States as co-founder/owner of Net-Systems, Inc. Upon receiving his US Citizenship, he petitioned his spouse and four children to join him.
Bim is survived by all four of his children, Sarabeth, the surgeon; and spouse Kelly Gonzales, Christopher, the network engineer, Michelle the registered pediatric nurse and the youngest Raphael also in IT like his father -- all testament to Bim's perseverance, grace and devotion to his family and honest labor.
Bim always remained connected; not just digitally, but actually visiting family, friends, neighbors, peers, acquaintances in all walks of life everywhere in the world. Ours and our children's mantra was "Kiss Papa Bim" as he always greets us with a kiss and warm embrace. He is generous with his compliments, always ready to help with whatever he can give, even financially. Bim will always remain in the hearts of all his family and loved ones as an ideal and devoted son, dependable brother, loving father, self-made man, an exceptional leader and a fine human being.
Bim was laid to rest next to his father's right side at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills in California on February 26, 2021, after a well -attended memorial service and funeral mass, even with pandemic precautions by twenty or more family, relatives, peers and friends. More were able to participate via Zoom meetings and FaceTime.

The Magno family truly appreciate the love and support that we have received. His presence is deeply missed but his legacy will never be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
