Carlito "Carling" Salazar, 80, born on December 29, 1944, in Santa Rita, Batangas, Philippines, passed away August 11, 2025. He resided in Walnut, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA.
A loving father to five children, a proud grandfather to five grandkids, Carling enjoyed going to Church of Christ, playing chess as a pastime, watching Chinese movies, biking for execise, going to the casino for fun and cooking delicious Filipino foods - a skill he inherited from his parents. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family capturing treasured memories by taking "stolen shots" of his loved ones and family.
Carling is survived by his five children – Carlo, Mahalia, Charmina, Claire and Jim; five grandchildren – Ally, Liam, Gavin, Calista and Joaquin; his brothers – Zosimo and Boyet; his sisters – Teresita and Nida and his former wife, Leonida (Loni).
Carling was the most loving, caring and selfless father. He lived his life not for himself, but for his children. Every decision he made, every sacrifice he bore, was done with his children in mind. He gave everything he could, and even when life was not easy, he made sure his children never felt the weight of it. He showed his children what unconditional love looks like. He instilled the value of hard work, kindness, and generosity. His fatherly love did not need to be spoken in grand gestures – it showed in the little things he did every single day. It was in the sacrifices he made quietly, without asking for anything in return. It was in the way he put his family first all the time, and in the way he carried himself with honor and humility.
His presence will be missed deeply, but his family will carry his love always. His lessons, his kindness, and his sacrifices will live on through his children and his grandkids. His legacy will will never fade. He was absolutely the best father and best grandfather any child could ever ask for and his loved ones will carry his memory and love in their hearts forever.
