Candida "Didi" Guevara Bloomstrand, 84, born on August 29, 1939, in San Juan Rizal, Philippines, passed away on August 10, 2024. Didi will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and kindred spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Bloomstrand, her parents, Crispina and Pedro Guevara, and her sisters, Carlota Bloomstrand and Venancia Reye Guevara. She is survived by her sisters Teresa De La Rosa, Presenia Guevara, Rustica Delos Reyes, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews from around the world, who all considered Didi a matriarch and grandmother of the family.
Didi had a distinguished career in banking, finding initial success at the Bank of the Philippine Islands - San Pablo City. After immigrating to America, she settled in Santa Rosa and worked at Wells Fargo in San Francisco for 32 years. Beyond banking, Didi was a successful entrepreneur, starting and building several convalescent homes, where she brought her caring spirit into the healthcare industry.
She was known for her hard work, business acumen, and formidable presence. Didi was the most supportive sister, auntie, and grandma to her loved ones. She made sure everyone was always taken care of, putting the needs and wants of others before her own.
With her dry sense of humor and love of dance, Didi was always the sweetest part of any gathering. She loved to sing along during car rides, especially to Christmas music, and always enjoyed eating snacks along the way.
At the time of her passing, she resided in North Hollywood with her sister Teresa, under the care of her niece Maria Bishop and great-niece Mara De La Rosa. In her final years, she stole the hearts of many through her funny TikTok and parody videos, which she starred in alongside her sister, Teresa. She was always happy to try new things and play around. She will always be remembered as a sweet and dear Grandma who was loved so much.
