Bud Smithers

John D. "Bud" Smithers, age 80 of Stanton, CA, passed away on Saturday January 23, 2016. His wife, Barbara of Stanton, CA; 4 sons, John T. Bargas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Buddy Lee Smithers of Long Beach, California, Gary Von Smithers of Farmington, New Mexico, and Tracy "Porky" Smithers of Long Beach, California; 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren survive him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Tracy and grandfather Cecil Coats, his mother Dorothy and father Ebert Smithers and his son James David Bargas. Buddy was born in Cardinal, Kentucky in 1936. He attended college in Illinois where he played basketball and was on the wrestling team. In his early years he worked in the oil fields. He married Barbara Martin in 1959. In 1962 the couple moved to Stanton, California where he remained until death. He was the CEO of Buddco INC. for 36 years. His hobbies included working on old cars, hunting, and fishing. Visitation will be February 1, 2016 from 5-9 pm. Funeral Service will be February 2, 2016 at 9am. All visitations and services will be held at Forest Lawn, Cypress.
