Bryan E Clark, age 93, of Hollywood, CA, passed peacefully in his home on Friday, September 9, 2022. His children were at his side.
Bryan was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the only child of Pharmacist, Bryan Clark and Maybelle Chester Clark. He leaves behind a daughter, Kathleen Whyte and son, Marc Clark, eight Grandchildren, a lifetime of devoted friends, family, and co-workers.
Bryan was raised as a Southern Gentleman in Louisville and grew up helping his parents behind the counter of Clark's Pharmacy. In his youth he studied singing, acting, dancingââwhich led to him performing with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall at age 15ââ, and clarinet playing in a big band during his college years. Bryan Clark met Josephine Deodato while studying acting at Fordham University in New York City. They married and remained so for 65 years. The Clarks raised five children while traveling to regional theatres around the country, including Actor's Theater of Louisville. Bryan served as Managing Director, driving up subscription rates while both he and Josie performed at night on stage.
He went on to become one of the premier voice-over artists in Washington, DC, moving back to New York City where he acted in commercials, film, and on the stage both on Broadway and off. He loved spending his summers with new artists at the Eugene O'Neil Playwright's Conference. He was a mentor championing young actors, directors, and playwrights, a director himself, a stage manager, and author of a collection of short stories.
He appeared as the Folger's spokesman, Corky's dad on Murphy Brown, and Ronald Reagan in three separate TV Films.
Bryan Clark was a Korean War Vet and father who survived the death of three of his children.
He disarmed almost everyone he met using his spot-on comedic timing, his undeniable good looks, and a charm that never quit, right up to the very end.
Bryan Clark's interment will be on Friday, October 7, 2022, 12:30pm at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills (Woodlands 416B), with a gathering to follow at The Smoke House, 4420 Lakeside Dr, Burbank, CA 91505 2pm-4:30pm.
