Bruce E. Matthews

Plaistow, NH:  Bruce E. Matthews, 67, died on Monday, January 16, 2012 in Plaistow following a lengthy illness.

Born in Boston, son of the late Eldridge and Filomena (Masciola) Matthews, he was raised in Everett and moved to West Roxbury at the age of twelve. He attended Boston Latin School, graduating in 1963.  He later attended Boston University and received his Degree in Engineering in 1967.   He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Matthews worked for Raytheon Missile Systems Division in Andover, MA for twenty-eight years until his retirement.  He was also known in the area as a Dog Trainer specializing in Sporting Breeds.  He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and field trials.

He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Williams.  Survivors include his dear friends Daniel and Mary Regan of Plaistow with whom he lived, and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 5:00 to 6:45 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH.  A celebration of life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. and concluding with military honors.  Memorial donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford, NH  03110.
