Sandown: Brian R. Edney, 52, of Sandown and formerly of Plaistow, died on June 26, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with metastatic esophageal cancer.
Brian was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Richard B. Edney and Nancy (Jones) (Edney) Hall-MacLeish and raised in Plaistow, NH by Nancy and step-father Charles D. Hall. He attended Pollard School and was a member of the Timberlane Regional High School Class of 1980. While at Timberlane, he studied in the Industrial Arts Program and was a member of the Ski Club. As a young man he was a member of the local Cub Scout troop, and Plaistow Youth Hockey.
He was first employed as a draftsman for Butler Service Group and later at Seabrook Station. He also worked at Cycle-Rama in Plaistow and for a local drywall contractor. In 1992 he established Drywall Dynamics and operated the company until 2011, while also building over one hundred houses throughout southern New Hampshire as a general contractor with Second Storey Homes.
A man who valued fun and adventure all of his life, he especially enjoyed camping in the White Mountains with his family, his numerous cross-country motorcycle journeys, and long days spent in his garage, wrenching on all manner of dirt bikes, ATV's, motorcycles, and old cars. He coached Farm League baseball, loved good beer and live music, and was also a member of the Cam Snappers, the oldest continuously running antique car club in New England. One of his favorite traditions were Tuesday Pool Nights at home with many of his lifelong friends from childhood.
He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his partner, Charlene (Hatfield) Nutter, his daughter Ashley R. Edney of East Hampstead, son Alexander R. Edney of Sandown, sisters and brothers-in-law, April and Brian Walton of Kingston, Jennifer and Barry Raymond Jr. of Sandown and Caitlin Edney of Pittsfield VT., his father and step-mother, Richard B. and Paula Edney of Pittsfield,VT., step-father Charles D. Hall and his wife Caroline Matterson of Haverhill, the husband of his late mother, Russell MacLeish of Plaistow, his former wife Linda (Morancie) Edney of Pelham and his devoted and faithful canine companion, "Lilly", also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH There will be a family Service of Remembrance on Wednesday in the funeral home .
