Braulia Lopez Ortega

Braulia Ortega passed away on Memorial Day. While recovering from pneumonia in the hospital, she contracted COVID and unfortunately couldn't recover and passed at the age of 88. Braulia was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Daniel. She was the loving mother of Daniel Ortega, Russell Ortega, Andrew Ortega and Zena Peterman. The proud grandmother of Angelina Ramsden, Victoria Ortega, Daniel Ortega, Russell Ortega, Ramon Ortega, Eric Ortega, Tara Ortega, Lauren Ortega, Jennifer Beltran, Ryan Peterman and Vanessa Peterman. She was also delighted to have nine Great-grandchildren.

Braulia was born in Ludlow, CA and grew up in the surrounding areas of Hesperia, Victorville, Barstow and finally settled in San Bernardino where she met her husband, Daniel and where all her children were born. In 1965, they moved to Compton, CA and finally settled in Cerritos, CA.

Braulia began her civil servant career at Norton Air Force Base in 1951 and retired after 30 years as a Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion & Repair for the United States Navy in Long Beach, CA. In addition to raising a family and having a career that spanned over 30 years, she also volunteered as a Boy Scouts Den Mother, was a member of Sacajewia, served as an officer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital before volunteering to babysit for her grandchildren.

Braulia loved to get dolled up and attend family events, especially those of her brothers' and sister's family. She loved to sew. She loved to go to the movies and watch old movies, especially westerns. We all miss her so much and still struggle that we could not be with her on her last days, but know she is with us now. We love you.
